German photographer Franzi Wernsing is bikepacking around the world with her partner Jona Riechmann.
Her story is a classic tale of wanderlust. In 2012, she quit her job in Hamburg, Germany, sold all her belongings and took off to New Zealand.
After walking 3,000 kilometres across the country and then backpacking through India and Nepal, she became disenchanted.
After meeting several inspirational cyclists, she and Jona decided to give bicycle touring a shot.
Her first cycle touring adventure took her from Iran to Mongolia and now she's back on the road, lightly loaded. With her brand-new bikepacking set-up, she and Jona are cycling the Americas from top to bottom. The couple tackled most of the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, and have just finished up a ride on the brand-new Baja Divide Route through Mexico.
They follow gravel roads and dirt tracks whenever possible, aiming to explore both wilder and more remote places.
